SiliconePlus manufactures custom LSR overmolded charging interface seals for smart watches, smart rings, health trackers, wearable sensors and compact electronic devices.

The liquid silicone rubber is molded directly around a plastic carrier, metal charging contact, FPC or custom interface structure. The required conductive and mating areas remain exposed while the silicone forms an integrated sealing, insulation and cushioning zone.

This is not a standard removable silicone plug. Each component is developed according to the customer’s charging interface, device housing, assembly compression, electrical contact position and waterproof requirement.

Integrated Sealing Around the Charging Interface
Charging interfaces are common water-entry points in wearable and compact electronic devices. Sweat, moisture, dust and repeated charging may affect the contact area when the sealing structure is unstable.

LSR overmolding can form the sealing lip, contact isolation area, housing interface and flexible transition zone as one integrated component.

The silicone coverage is limited to the required functional area. Metal charging contacts, electrical pads, alignment features and connector mating surfaces can remain accurately exposed.
Critical Charging Interface Design Points
Contact Exposure
The mold must keep conductive contacts and charging surfaces free from silicone while controlling the exposed position and height.
Sealing Compression
The silicone sealing lip should match the device housing and provide controlled compression without interfering with assembly.
Insert Positioning

A silicone over plastic structure can integrate the sealing lip with a rigid plastic carrier. Silicone over metal can protect selected areas around charging contacts while leaving conductive surfaces exposed. FPC with silicone overmolding can seal the flexible circuit transition area and provide local strain relief.
